Not every day should be a trip to your UNcomfort zone. Lots of attention should be paid to celebrating our comfort in life. Whether it’s love for the grand-babies, adoration for the canine in your life, the home that speaks to you, or just a simple day locked into what ever makes you feel at peace.
Sometimes all it takes is a day with no stress and no fires to put out, to visit a friend, resurrect an old project, or watch mindless TV.
How do you define your ‘comfort’?
How would you define your comfort zone? For me, it’s the absence of fear associated with challenge, along with the lack of pressure to meet a tough expectation I’ve imposed on myself or been handed by someone else.
It’s when I can sit back, pause, take a break, and stand still.
Today is one of those days. Forget the taxes, the job search, and the to-do list. Enter my comfort zone where I’m at peace.
It’s okay not to grow or accelerate now and then. We were meant to rest, to rejuvenate, to see things with a fresh perspective. But most of all to be grateful for the peacefulness we often take for granted.
What’s on your gratitude list?
Today my gratitude list is awfully long. Although it’s cold and grey, I don’t see it. I cherish my good health after a good night’s sleep, and my black lab ‘Olive’ who is never short of wags, a wet nose, and 100% enthusiasm.
High on my mountain of gratefulness today is my apartment, even with my 88-year-old bathrooms and windows that leak cold air. Somehow, I always manage to take what I have and make a home that tells a story about who I am and what I love. A home should be your haven. And for that I’m grateful as well.
And having just spent time eating pizza & apples, then visiting CK Nails with five 8-year-old giggling girls for a birthday celebration, I’m so thankful I’m here with them.
Had I not challenged myself to face my fears of downsizing & moving, and wade through the muck in 2018, I wouldn’t be present on the other side of my UNcomfort zone to reap these ridiculously comfortable rewards.
It makes me realize that what I’m actually and most truly grateful for is developing the inner guts that encourage me to keep going, stretch my limits, try new things, take risks, and make changes. All of it has led me to where I am today. The universe always responds when there’s effort to grow!
Today I’m sitting back, pausing, taking a break, and standing still in a ‘place’ I would never have landed if it weren’t for that scary Uncomfort zone.
As fearful as I was, I did it! And I’m just so filled with gratitude (and pride!).
Thanks for taking the time to hear about a corner of my world. Hopefully it inspires you in some small way to think about yours. I’d love to know what your comfort zone looks like if you’d like to share!
Happy day! ~ Carol ♥
